We had an opportunity for a brief Q & A with her, check it out for a glimpse into the modeling world;

1. Q: Can you briefly introduce yourself and tell us about your journey into modeling?
A: My name is Joy Nyambura, a student at the Technical University of Kenya, 21 years of age. I am a young girl passionate about giving back to society, having worked with different organizations feeding street families, visiting children’s homes, homes for the aged, and even prisons—just to remind people they are not forgotten and are valued. I am also a passionate model.
My journey into modeling began with a love for self-expression, confidence, and storytelling through fashion. I started small, participating in campus events, and gradually grew into commercial modeling. Each step has shaped me into a more confident and disciplined individual.
2. Q: How do you balance your university studies with your modeling career?
A: Balancing both requires discipline, planning, and prioritization. I organize my schedule to ensure my academics come first while also creating time for modeling training and competitions. I believe education and passion can coexist when you stay focused and manage your time effectively.

3. Q: What does being Miss Technical University of Kenya mean to you?
A: Being Miss TUK is a great honor and responsibility that I am humbled to have. It represents leadership, confidence, and being a voice for students beyond academics. It’s not just about beauty, but about impact—representing the values and the face of the university, and inspiring others to believe in themselves.
4. Q: What inspired you to pursue both education and modeling at the same time?
A: I believe in being well-rounded. Education equips me with knowledge and a strong foundation for my future, while modeling allows me to express creativity, connect and network with other models and designers, and build confidence. I didn’t want to limit myself to one path—I wanted to grow in both.
5. Q: What has been your most memorable experience as a commercial model so far?
A: One of my most memorable experiences has been working on projects that allowed me to represent brands and connect with diverse audiences and talented designers in the fashion space. Seeing my work come to life and knowing it inspires others has been truly fulfilling.

6. Q: How do you stay confident and motivated in such a competitive industry?
A: I stay confident by believing in my uniqueness and constantly improving myself. I remind myself that everyone has their own journey. Motivation comes from my goals, my passion, and my desire to work with big organizations and inspire others—especially young people who look up to me.
7. Q: What message or impact do you hope to make through your title and platform?
A: I hope to inspire confidence, self-belief, and empowerment, especially among young people. I am passionate about advocating for personal growth and, particularly, boy child empowerment—ensuring that everyone feels seen, supported, and valued.
8. Q: What advice would you give to other young students who want to get into modeling?
A: Believe in yourself, stay consistent, be unique, and build your brand. Don’t rush the process. Focus on growing your career, maintaining discipline, and staying true to who you are. Also, never neglect your education having both knowledge and passion will take you far.
