Q: Please introduce yourself to our audience.
Eva Wairimu: I’m Eva Wairimu, a passionate part-time commercial model and thrift business owner. I love bringing brands and fashion to life through creative and authentic content while helping people express their personal style through affordable, high-quality thrift fashion. Whether I’m in front of the camera or serving my customers, fashion and creativity are at the heart of everything I do.
Q: What inspired you to become a model in Kenya?
I’ve always loved fashion, creativity, and self-expression. Modeling allows me to tell stories, build confidence, and connect with people through visual content. As a thrift business owner, modeling also gives me a platform to prove that great style isn’t determined by the price tag but by confidence and creativity.
Q: How did your modeling journey begin?
My journey started in primary school through runway activities. I continued modeling in high school and later in campus, where I participated in different events and competitions. One of my earliest milestones was being featured in Insider Magazine, which encouraged me to pursue modeling more seriously.

Q: What has been your biggest achievement in modeling so far?
Being featured in Insider Magazine remains one of my proudest achievements. I’m also proud of my consistency, having modeled from primary school through campus while building a professional portfolio and collaborating with talented creatives.
Q: What challenges have you faced as a Kenyan model, and how have you overcome them?
Balancing modeling with work and running my thrift business has been challenging. The industry is also highly competitive, with limited opportunities and occasional rejection. Financial investment in photoshoots and personal branding can also be demanding. I’ve overcome these challenges through consistency, patience, networking, and continuously improving my skills while believing in myself.

Q: Which fashion designers, photographers, or brands have you enjoyed working with the most?
I’ve enjoyed working with talented photographers at Phil Studio and Mookah Studio. Every collaboration has strengthened my confidence, improved my posing and storytelling skills, and expanded my portfolio. I’m excited to collaborate with more photographers, designers, stylists, makeup artists, and brands in the future.
Q: How do you prepare yourself physically and mentally for photoshoots and runway events?
I prioritize rest, hydration, balanced nutrition, and a healthy skincare routine. Mentally, I maintain a positive mindset, stay confident, and remain open to constructive feedback because every shoot is an opportunity to grow.

Q: What advice would you give to young people in Kenya who dream of becoming models?
Believe in yourself and stay patient. Build your confidence, invest in a strong portfolio, practice your runway walk and posing, and continue learning. Don’t compare your journey with others, and never let rejection define your future. Work professionally, protect your boundaries, and collaborate with reputable people.
Q: How do you balance modeling with your personal life and career?
Organization and discipline are essential. Having a career outside modeling provides stability while allowing me to pursue my passion. Careful planning helps me grow both as a model and as an entrepreneur.

Q: What does beauty and confidence mean to you?
Beauty goes beyond appearance. It’s about authenticity, kindness, confidence, and embracing who you truly are. When you’re confident in yourself, your beauty naturally shines, and your uniqueness becomes your greatest strength.
Q: What are your future goals in the fashion industry?
I aspire to become a respected commercial and fashion model working with leading photographers, designers, and both local and international brands. I also hope to grow my thrift business into a recognized fashion brand that promotes affordable, stylish, and sustainable fashion while inspiring confidence and self-expression.
